Fans want Bergkamp to stay
Dennis Bergkamp
BBC Sport's 606 message boards have been inundated with reaction to the uncertainty surrounding Dennis Bergkamp's future at Arsenal.

Bergkamp has had another inspirational season and was the catalyst for the 7-0 win over Everton on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old admitted he was moved to tears by the reaction of supporters who chanted "one more year".

With Bergkamp's deal expiring at the end of the season, fans have called for to him be given a one-year extension.

ARSENAL FANS ON DENNIS BERGKAMP

Give him a contract! Bergkamp's the second best player we have got. What is Wenger playing at?
Yoni

The FA should charge Arsenal for disservice to the Premiership if we do not offer Dennis Bergkamp a new contract. Not only will Arsenal miss out on a legend's swansong, the Premiership will lose a year of pure unadulterated magic.

If we don't sign him again, I want to organise a march on the marble halls until they see sense - how can we not want a player who destroyed a team like he did on Wednesday?!
CallMeQuincy

There has been no greater foreign signing in Premiership history. I think we should give him a contract for life.
CK

Would he have played that well against Everton if he was already given a contract? He went out determined to show what he could do.

Now imagine the Cup final. How fired up will he be to put in a performance to try and force Arsene into giving him the one-year contract.

Or just before he goes out on the pitch he gets told by Arsene he will be given the one year extension he wants. It will be one hell of a boost just before the final!

Possibly the greatest foreign signing the Premiership has ever seen (up there with Zola, Cantona), at least until Henry scores a few more goals.
Ralphy Lauren

One more year please. The man's vision and touch is still better than anyone else in the Premiership.
Mike P

Bergkamp earned a one-year contract against Everton, he was awesome and even if he is bit part player next season he has so much to offer the younger players.
North Bank Nutter

Dennis Bergkamp has been consistent when he is needed, take for example Liverpool - one through ball was needed to make an impact.

Keeping him will improve the likes of Van Persie and Reyes, Wenger what are you waiting for?
CD

I think he still has something to offer in a squad role playing maybe 20 games a season max. But, I think where he would be really useful is staying around to work with all the young stars in the making and being a role model and technique coach.
John Matrix

Dennis's contract must be nearly in the bag. Why? Well, if DB10 and Edu were both playing their last games at Highbury, surely the ball would've gone straight to DB wouldn't it?
