1654: FULL-TIME Newcastle 1-0 Birmingham
It is five league games without a goal for Birmingham as they go down to Emre's goal at St James' Park.

1652: FULL-TIME Fulham 2-1 Manchester City
Manchester City keeper David James gives the ball away on the edge of the Fulham area. The home side break forward but Tomasz Radsinski fails to score as Sun Jihai races back to clear his goalbound shot moments before the final whistle.

1651: FULL-TIME Arsenal 3-1 Sunderland
The Gunners climb to third after a comfortable win, despite a scratchy spell in the second half when they failed to sparkle.

1651: FULL-TIME Blackburn 4-1 Charlton
Blackburn take the honours in a one-sided encounter.

1650: Bradley Wright-Phillips puts the ball in the net for Manchester City but is called back for offside.

Craig Bellamy makes it four for Rovers after good work from substitute Shefki Kuqi.

1647: The intensity of competition at Highbury and Ewood Park fizzles out and the burning issue now is whether Manchester City can salvage a point at Craven Cottage to deny Arsenal taking third spot in the table.

1644: Robert Pires and Thierry Henry plot over a free-kick in a dangerous position, but like that infamous penalty a few weeks back it comes to nothing.

1641: GOAL Arsenal 3-1 Sunderland
Cesc Fabregas releases Thierry Henry and after a heavy first touch the Gunners skipper tucks the ball home for his 15th goal in his last 10 Highbury outings.

1638: GOAL Newcastle 1-0 Birmingham
There is now a goal in every game as Emre breaks the deadlock at St James' Park. Maik Taylor gets a hand to the Turk's rising left-footed shot but is unable to keep it out.

1634: GOAL Arsenal 2-1 Sunderland
Arsenal fall asleep at the back and Alan Stubbs latches on to Steven Caldwell's back-post header form a corner and stabs the ball through Jens Lehmann's legs.

1630: Dennis Bergkamp comes on in place of Dutch compatriot Robin van Persie for his 300th Arsenal league appearance.

1627: Thierry Henry almost lights up Highbury with an audacious, acrobatic overhead kick, but his effort hits the woodwork.

1626: GOAL West Ham 1-0 West Brom
It had been coming and Teddy Sheringham duly delivers, firing in Christian Dailly's deflected knock down into the bottom corner.

1622: Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy is clearly not happy with the display he is watching and makes a third substitution, Tommy Miller replacing Nyron Nosworthy, with more than 30 minutes remaining.

1617: GOAL Blackburn 3-1 Charlton
Charlton's 100% away record looks to be going up in smoke. Morten Gamst Pedersen turns in Steven Reid's whipped cross from the right - with a hint of a deflection off Luke Young.

1614: West Ham kick-off the second half in the fifth and final mid-afternoon Premiership match.

1606: Newcastle and Birmingham resume and the fans at a rainswept St James' Park will be hoping for some fireworks after a damp squib of a first half.

1605: Sunderland make two changes, Anthony Le Tallec and Stephen Elliott starting the second 45 against Arsenal. Thematch on the banks of the Thames between Fulham and Manchester City also re-starts.

1603: As in the first-half Blackburn and Charlton are the earliest starters, getting under way before the teams are even out at Highbury and St James' Park.

1557: The whistle goes at West Ham where the hosts are still locked in a goalless draw with West Brom.

1551: There are ooohs and aaahs at Upton Park where West Ham keep threatening to score but nobody is able to find a telling touch in goal.

Luis Boa Morte slides a pass through to Steed Malbranque who dances round keeper David James to slot his second of the game for Fulham.

1536: GOAL Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland
The Gunners double their advantage, Lauren swinging in an inviting low cross which Thierry Henry slides in to convert.

1536: GOAL Blackburn 2-1 Charlton
Bryan Hughes steals in at the far post to scramble in Darren Bent's cross before colliding with keeper and post. The bang keeps him down for a while but he is soon up and running.

1533: After a sparkling start to the afternoon it has all gone a bit quiet. Where's the next goal going to come from?

1521: GOAL Fulham 1-1 Manchester City
Against the run of play Manchester City equalise. Darius Vassell breaks down the left and feeds Stephen Ireland who in turn plays in Lee Croft on the right for his first Premiership goal.

1517: GOAL Blackburn 2-0 Charlton
Charlton's poor start continues as Paul Dickov climbs unchallenged to nod in Lucas Neill's deflected cross.

1513: GOAL Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland
Arsenal go a goal up against an inexperienced Black Cats side after Robin van Persie brings down a long ball from Sol Campbell and fires an explosive left-footed shot beyond 18-year-old keeper Ben Alnwick.

1512: Manchester City's Joey Barton takes out Steed Malbranque with a horror tackle and is lucky to be shown only a yellow card.

1510: It is all systems go in the delayed kick-off at Upton Park.

1507: GOAL Fulham 1-0 Manchester City
Richard Dunne dithers and Luis Boa Morte pounces before crossing to Steed Malbranque, the Frenchman who had been linked with a move to Man City making no mistake with a simple finish.

1502: GOAL Blackburn 1-0 Charlton
The first goal of the afternoon goes to Brett Emerton, who sends a rocket of a shot beyond Stephan Andersen at his near post.

1500: Blackburn against Charlton is the first mid-afternoon match to start and the others soon follow - but for the delayed kick-off between West Ham and West Brom.

1445 GMT: Police put back the kick-off at Upton Park by 10 minutes due to a traffic accident in the vicinity of the ground.


Team news:

Arsenal skipper Thierry Henry and Jens Lehmann have recovered from injuries to play. Midweek subs Robin van Persie and Francesc Fabregas start in place of Dennis Bergkamp and Mathieu Flamini.

Sunderland make six changes from last week's defeat to Portsmouth. Keeper Kelvin Davis drops to the bench with Ben Alnwick preferred, Danny Collins and Daryl Murphy make their first Premiership starts and skipper Gary Breen, Carl Robinson and Jon Stead all return.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes makes two changes, one enforced. Steven Reid is in for leg-injury victim Robbie Savage and Paul Dickov beats Shefki Kuqi to the attacking berth alongside Craig Bellamy.

Charlton welcome back Darren Bent for Jay Bothroyd up front and Bryan Hughes deputises for Alexei Smertin, who has a groin injury.

Fulham bring in Brian McBride for Claus Jensen, the Dane having failed to recover from injury.

Manchester City also make just the one change, Richard Dunne returning to the heart of the defence for the injured David Sommeil.

Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer returns to the starting line up in place of Shola Ameobi, while in defence Titus Bramble replaces Jean-Alain Boumsong.

Birmingham midfielder Nicky Butt, on loan from the Magpies, misses out as boss Steve Bruce opts for Muzzy Izzet in the middle of the park. Stan Lazaridis is in for Mikael Forssell and Neil Kilkenny replaces Damien Johnson.

West Ham recall Teddy Sheringham in attack with David Bellion dropping to the bench.

West Bromwich Albion welcome back striker Diomansy Kamara and defender Martin Albrechtsen from injury and draft in Ronnie Wallwork. Riccardo Scimeca, Darren Moore and Darren Carter are the men to make way.
