Arsenal/Man Utd player ratings
Marks out of 10 for Arsenal and Manchester United after their Premiership showdown at Highbury.

Arsenal

Manuel Almunia - 5: Was having a solid game until he went walkabout for United's third goal. Saved well from Rooney but still question marks about him.

Lauren - 6: Solid defensively in the first half but the right-back found Ronaldo a tough opponent after the break.

Ashley Cole - 6: Didn't let the press speculation about his future affect his game - a typically solid display.

Sol Campbell - 6: Gave possession away for United's goal but otherwise he was solid with some crucial tackles.

Pascal Cygan - 6: Stepped in for the suspended Kolo Toure and looked fairly comfortable alongside Campbell.

Patrick Vieira - 6: Got involved in a verbal exchange with Keane in the tunnel, he had the first word with his headed goal but finished second best again.

Mathieu Flamini - 5: Picked ahead of Fabregas in the centre alongside Vieira but found life tough in an intriguing midfield battle.

Dennis Bergkamp - 7: Belied his increasing years in the first half with some delightful touches and capped it with a fine goal but he did not have the same impact after the break.

Freddie Ljungberg - 7: An all-action display from the Swedish midfielder, he was one of Arsenal's best attackers.

Thierry Henry - 7: Did his best with some bursting runs down the flanks and neat touches but it is now six games without a goal for the Frenchman.

Robert Pires - 5: Got involved with Rooney and spent too much of the game going to ground too easily.

Substitutes

Jose Reyes (Replaced Flamini, 70 mins) - 6: Brought on with his side 3-2 down but was unable to inspire them to a comeback. Booked late on.

Justin Hoyte (Replaced Campbell, 79 mins) - 6: Took Campbell's place in central defence due to injury, he could do nothing about the fourth goal.

Fransecs Fabregas (Replaced Lauren, 82 mins) - 6: A late throw of the dice by Arsene Wenger but had little impact.

Manchester United

Roy Carroll - 6: Came out well to save at the feet of Ljungberg early on. He was slow to react to Bergkamp's shot for Arsenal's second but solid after.

Gary Neville - 7: Kept defensively tight to Pires and Cole down the right hand side and got forward when he could.

Gabriel Heinze - 7: Recovered from losing Vieira for the early goal and booked after 12 minutes. Never stopped running and created the fourth goal.

Rio Ferdinand - 7: As usual the England international was a cool head at the back and dominant in the air.

Mikael Silvestre - 4: Stupidly got himself sent off for a needless headbutt on Ljungberg with United in control.

Roy Keane - 8: The United skipper was fired up by Vieira before the game but kept his cool, kept the ball and was a rock in front of his defence.

Paul Scholes - 8: Unable to get into his usual forward positions, he helped beat Arsenal with some precise passing and great defensive work.

Darren Fletcher - 6: Coped admirably alongside Keane and Scholes in midfield until he was forced off injured.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 7: Too often he gave the ball away wastefully in the first half but showed his quality with two fine goals.

Wayne Rooney - 6: Lovely touch to Giggs for his goal, he looked like losing his discipline but kept it together well after half-time.

Ryan Giggs - 9: (STAR MAN)
Got United's equaliser, with the aid of a deflection, and set up their next two to put them firmly in command. Even weighed in by helping his defence.

Substitutes

John O'Shea (Replaced Fletcher, 61 mins) - 8: Provided protection to the back four. He then ventured forward before producing a sublime finish to seal the game.

Wes Brown (Replaced Ronaldo, 71 mins) - 7: Thrown on after Silvestre's red card as United looked to protect their lead.

Louis Saha (Replaced Giggs, 77 mins) - 6: Gave United some fresh legs late on in the game.
