Bolton manager Sam Allardyce accepts striker El-Hadji Diouf's reputation will suffer again after he appeared to dive in the 1-0 win over Blackburn.
Allardyce said: "It'll probably make him more unpopular. He's handled things reasonably well, but he has himself to blame and has to deal with it.
"It is something he has been doing all his life like many, many players do.
"Who doesn't do it? I defend my player as Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger do. Everyone does it given the chance."
Allardyce was unhappy with Blackburn boss Mark Hughes' condemnation of Diouf and denied suggestions the Senegal striker should have been sent off for an alleged elbow on Andy Todd.
He added: "He did not elbow him in the face, he led with his arm and caught him on the side of his face.
"Should Robbie Savage have been sent off for his first tackle for breaking (Ricardo) Gardner in two? He should get sent off in the first minute if that is the case.
"Mark Hughes should comment on his own players and not mine - and then I would not comment on his."
