Wolverhampton 2-2 Blackburn
Dwight Yorke denied Wolves the chance to climb off the bottom of the Premiership with a late equaliser.

Yorke made the most of poor defending to bundle in Brett Emerton's free-kick just as Wolves seemed set to secure their fourth league win of the season.

Andy Cole had put Rovers ahead from Emerton's cross but Wolves hit back.

Paul Butler headed home Alex Rae's free-kick and Rae curled in a second, after a one-two with Nathan Blake, but Yorke finished with the final word.

Wolves missed Paul Ince's dogged determination in midfield, the captain laid low by a bug that also left manager Dave Jones bed-ridden.

However, they worked valiantly from the off, with Henri Camara at the heart of their best work, but were repeatedly wasteful when presented with openings.

KEY MOMENTS
14 mins: Cole rounds off sweeping move
63 mins: Butler levels with header
72 mins: Rae slots a sweet finish
78 mins: Yorke equalises

Camara was particularly culpable in front of goal with Rae and Mark Kennedy also missing opportunites.

Cole showed his opposing strikers how to finish when rounding off a sweeping Rovers move.

In the blink of an eye, Blackburn broke. Martin Taylor stopped Rae in his tracks before releasing Emerton, who in turn laid the perfect cross into Cole's path.

The home faithful grew increasingly frustrated by their side's profligacy before Butler powered in an equaliser.

The stand-in skipper headed home Rae's free-kick and within 10 minutes Wolves were in front, Rae notching his eighth goal of the season.

But just as the home fans prepared to celebrate a priceless win, Blackburn bounced back.

Yorke's first goal in eight games denied the hosts, although he could have done even more harm but blazed across the face of goal with four minutes left.

With Blackburn out of sorts, this match was crucial to improving the host's chances of Premiership survival.

The point will have helped the recovery of Jones and Ince, but three would have been so much more valuable.

With home matches against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal coming up, Jones knows the fight for survival will only get harder.
