Manager Sir Alex Ferguson and captain Roy Keane claimed Manchester United were lucky not to be punished for a sloppy second-half performance against Blackburn.
United seemed to ease off after carving out a 2-0 half-time lead and were almost punished as Blackburn battled back before losing 2-1.
"We got careless and nearly had our backsides kicked," grumbled Ferguson.
"For the first hour, everything we did was superb but then we got slack and
tried to put too much icing on the cake.
"We ended up scrambling over the line when we shouldn't have done.

"Blackburn
pushed us all the way and we only have ourselves to blame."
Captain Keane agreed after seeing Brett Emerton respond to first-half strikes from Ruud van Nistelrooy and Kleberson.
"We took our foot off the gas which is unacceptable," Keane said.
United's victory ensured they kept pace at the top of the Premiership with leaders Arsenal and second-placed Chelsea, both of whom also won on Saturday.
But Ferguson believes his team will have to improve to ensure they maintain their challenge.
He added: "After that second half performance, we are clearly a long way from top
form."
