Uefa hands Vieira fine
Vieira is struggling with a knee injury
Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira has been fined by Uefa for criticising the governing body for not being tough enough on racism.

Vieira must pay a fine of 2,300, while and Valencia were fined 9,250 for the racist abuse of players by their supporters during the match.

The Arsenal captain made the remarks following his side's Champions League match against Valencia when the Londoners were dumped out of Europe.

Vieira had accused Uefa of "hypocrisy" for failing to severely punish clubs whose fans were racially abusive.

"They keep saying they will do something about it but all they are doing is fining clubs 2,000 or 3,000 pounds and nothing really happens," said Vieira after the Valencia game.

Meanwhile, the midfielder could be ruled out of the rest of the season as he struggles to recover from a knee injury.

Vieira has not played since limping out of the 2-2 draw against Manchester United last month.
