Everton boss Walter Smith resists the temptation to leave out new signing David Ginola for the derby clash at Liverpool.

But there is no place for another wayward Everton talent, Paul Gascoigne, who does not even make it onto the bench.

Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland makes his Premiership debut for Liverpool, who are without injured England midfielder Steven Gerrard, so Gary McAllister comes in.

Nicolas Anelka partners Michael Owen up front, with Emile Heskey on the bench.

French World Cup-winner Youri Djorkaeff makes his debut for struggling Bolton at Southampton, who have Jo Tessem alongside Marian Pahars in attack.

Rookie Leicester striker Matt Piper keeps his place up front in the relegation battle with Derby, who are without suspended Fabrizio Ravanelli and give Branko Strupar his first Premiership start in almost a year.

Zat Knight replaces Sean Davis in the Fulham side at Arsenal, who have Sylvain Wiltord and Thierry Henry up front.
