Spurs deny Bowyer interest
Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle
Hoddle has little money to spend on new players
Tottenham have denied wanting to sign Leeds United's transfer listed midfielder Lee Bowyer.

The 24-year-old was placed on the transfer list after refusing to pay a fine of four weeks' wages for breaking the Yorkshire club's code of conduct.

And Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale confirmed that two Premiership clubs had made enquiries about the player, who began his career in London with Charlton.

But Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle has emphatically denied that his club is one of those interested parties.

"There is no interest there at all from us. I don't think I need to say more."

Former England coach Hoddle also added that money no longer exists for such a purchase.

"We haven't got £12m to buy a player, that's for sure.

"Funds were used in the summer, wisely I feel, to get people in and I'm not looking to sign more at the moment.

"Every manager will tell you he is always looking to improve his squad but I've already brought in players who I knew had a winning mentality and I'm happy with how it has gone so far."

Leeds are still waiting to see whether Bowyer pays his fine, a move which will put his career with the Yorkshire club back on track.
