Sol Campbell and Les Ferdinand collide
Sol Campbell and Les Ferdinand collide
Gus Poyet hooked in an injury-time equaliser as Tottenham saved a point against Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

Robert Pires put the Gunners ahead in the north London derby with nine minutes to go in a match which failed to live up to the hype.

It was billed as the return of Sol Campbell but it was Pires' curling 25-yarder past Neil Sullivan which looked to have stolen the show.

However, Poyet latched on to the ball and beat a dejected Richard Wright to level the tie.
Match report

Liverpool went top of the Premiership on goals scored after being held to a 1-1 draw by Blackburn.

Michael Owen put the Reds ahead with a header past the despairing Brad Friedel from a Steven Gerrard cross on 31 minutes.

The equaliser came from the ever-dangerous Matt Jansen, who swivelled in the box before slipping the ball past Jerzy Dudek in the Liverpool goal.

Match report

Newcastle's London jinx struck again after they were downed 3-1 by Fulham.

Loius Saha got the first for the home side after combining with Silvain Legwinski for a 25-yard curler past Shay Given on 20 minutes.

The killer blow came eight minutes later as Legwinsky latched on to Steed Malbranque's through-ball and powered it past Given's despairing dive.

Gary Speed gave the travelling support some hope when he headed in on 65 minutes - but Barry Hayles effectively settled the tie on 70 minutes.
Match report

Neither side could break the deadlock in a dour encounter between Aston Villa and Middlesbrough at Villa Park.

Villa would have gone to the top of the table if they had beaten a resolute Boro side who had former Villa duo Gareth Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu in their ranks.

Juan Pablo Angel had the best chance for the home side when he hit the cross-bar after 11 minutes.
Match report

Derby's Youl Mawene scored the only goal of the game against Southampton on 24 minutes in the battle at the foot of the table.

Mawene's freak effort came as he and Southampton's James Beattie swung at the ball from a corner. Paul Jones thought the ball was going over the bar but it looped in.

Paul Telfer came closest for Saints when his first-half effort struck the bar.
