Jason Euell's stunning 25-yard strike earned Charlton a point at Pride Park.

On as a second-half substitute, Euell brilliantly volleyed his side level with his first touch to cancel out Fabrizio Ravanelli's opener.

  Pride Park action
9 mins: Derby's Higginbotham booked
14 mins: Ravanelli heads Derby in front
51 mins: Christie booked for foul on Parker
71 mins: Derby's Powell booked
73 mins: Euell equalises

It was Charlton goalkeeper Dean Kiely who claimed a rare assist, Euell smashing in from his goal-kick on 73 minutes.

Kiely's Derby counterpart, Ian Feuer, was reduced to the role of spectator as the half-volley whistled in to the far corner of his net.

The strike maintains Charlton's unbeaten away record and leaves Colin Todd still looking for his first win as Derby manager.

In his first home game in charge, Todd faced his son Andy, who was called up to Charlton's starting XI.

Todd gave debuts to his new signings Luciano Zavango, Benito Carbone and Pierre Ducrocq.

But it was Charlton who started the brighter.

The way we'd been playing I'd have been pleased with a tap-in

Claus Jensen set Jonatan Johansson free down the right flank only for Chris Riggott to deny the striker a shot on goal.

Fabrizio Ravanelli then opened the scoring on 15 minutes with his sixth strike of the season.

The Italian stooped to head in Craig Burley's outswinging corner from the edge of the six-yard box.

The goal drew an immediate response from Charlton.

Shaun Bartlett was the first to threaten after 20 minutes.

But his acrobatic attempt was comfortably saved by Feuer.

Jensen should have done better after 26 minutes when he evaded Riggott, only to scoop his shot over the bar from eight yards out.

But Derby had chances to punish Charlton's profligacy.

"There is still a lot of work to be done"
Derby boss Colin Todd
Ravanelli's shot from the edge of the box was tipped round the post.

And he drew another smart save from Kiely with a close range header.

The Addicks could still have been level by half-time.

Mark Kinsella's right-foot volley from 18 yards out failed to really test Feuer.

But Charlton deserved their point after pouring forward in search of an equaliser in the second half.

Bartlett, who Euell eventually replaced, went close after 60 minutes but his left-footed effort was blocked.

Ravanelli represented Derby's most potent attacking threat.

But three minutes from the end, his shot from 18 yards out was saved by Dean Kiely.
