Manchester United stormed back from three goals behind to earn an incredible 5-3 win against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

The champions trailed 3-0 at the break after goals from debutant Dean Richards, Les Ferdinand and Christian Ziege.

But Andy Cole, Laurent Blanc and Ruud van Nistelrooy were all on target as United hit back after half time to make it 3-3.

Juan Sebastian Veron put United ahead 4-3 before David Beckham added a late fifth.

Thierry Henry put the Gunners ahead direct from a free-kick.

Arsenal were reduced to 10 men when Martin Keown was red-carded for two bookings.
