Leeds back on top
Robbie Keane challenges Ipswich duo John McGreal and Chris Makin

Ipswich 1-2 Leeds

Leeds moved back to the top of the Premiership as they came from behind to claim a late win over Ipswich.

An own goal by the unlucky Mark Venus four minutes from time gave the visitors victory.

Marcus Stewart put George Burley's side ahead in the first half before a Robbie Keane equaliser 20 minutes from the end looked to have shared the points.

But Venus gifted Leeds the win when he stretched out and diverted Harry Kewell's cross into his own net.

The sign of a good top four side is when you're not having a great day at the office you're gathering points - and that's what we're doing
Leeds boss David O'Leary

Ipswich started brightly, although luck deserted the home side after 12 minutes when Marcus Stewart's effort hit the post and rebounded straight into the arms of a relieved Nigel Martyn.

Penalised

Leeds' first attack of note arrived in the 18th minute. Robbie Keane's shot on the run was brilliantly turned round the post by Matteo Sereni.

But on 22 minutes, Stewart gave his side the lead.

Leeds were penalised for a foul on Jim Magilton by Kewell, and Venus' free-kick was headed home by Stewart, who got the better of Leeds defender Danny Mills.

Sereni came to Ipswich's rescue again near the break.

Keane held the ball up superbly for Kewell, but his effort was well saved by the Italian keeper.

We needed a second goal - one goal is never enough
Ipswich boss George Burley

Finidi George and Jim Magilton missed chances to double Ipswich's advantage in the second half.

Reward

And George Burley's side were made to pay after 70 minutes

After being thwarted on a couple of occasions, Keane finally got his reward thanks to a lovely through ball from Kewell.

The Republic of Ireland international kept his cool to place the ball past the advancing Sereni.

And Venus' intervention maintained Leeds' unbeaten run.
