Teddy Sheringham fails a fitness test and misses out on the chance of captaining Tottenham against Aston Villa at the start of his second spell at White Hart Lane.

Former Spur David Ginola is named on the bench for Villa, who give a debut to ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.

Robbie Fowler is left out of the Liverpool squad against West Ham, following his training ground bust-up with Phil Thompson.

Unfit Emile Heskey is also absent from the Reds' line-up, so Jari Litmanen partners Michael Owen up front.

Leeds boss David O'Leary selects Robbie Keane and Mark Viduka in attack against Southampton, who play German striker Uwe Rosler ahead of James Beattie.
