Veron makes Man Utd unbeatable
BBC Sport's Mark Lawrenson on Juan Veron
BBC Sport's Mark Lawrenson believes Manchester United will be unstoppable after signing Juan Sebastian Veron.

I do not think there are many better midfielders in the world than Juan Sebastian Veron.

When you consider he is joining a midfield which is one of the best in the Premiership and in Europe, that shows how good he must be.

He also has the ability to run at people which United only have in Giggs
Lawrenson on Veron

I do not think going to Old Trafford will faze him - he went to Lazio after leaving his home in Argentina, so is he a top player.

If I had to pinpoint his main strength, I would say a fantastic range of passing. If you think Beckham is good, wait till you see Veron.

He also has the ability to run at people which United only have in Giggs.

He is a great athlete, and with Keane playing behind him, I think he is going to be absolutely brilliant.

I can see him slotting right into the centre of midfield alongside Keane.

That will give Sir Alex the opportunity of playing Paul Scholes further up front with the likes of Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy or Ole Solskjaer.

In Veron and van Nistelrooy, they are buying world class players

I think that Veron can also play on the right hand side of midfield if required.

If United fans wondered what type of players their club would be bringing in during the summer, they can not be disappointed with the two so far.

In Veron and Van Nistelrooy, they are buying world-class players - it is a lot of money but it is the price you have to pay at the moment.

Veron - great range of passing
I do not think Sir Alex will worry too much about the players he will have to leave out to accommodate the new players.

It is just the same position that Liverpool of old used to face - no matter how good the squad is, the manager just picks the best 11 players available.

I also do not think that Veron is the long term replacement for Keane - they are different players completely.

Before United bought these two players, they were already favourites to win the Premiership.

Now, for me, it is already a case of who is going to come second.

I think Sir Alex will get someone else in - possibly another defender who can play in a couple of positions.
