Tottenham 1-2 Leeds

A Lee Bowyer strike after 57 minutes gave Leeds all three points and ended Tottenham's unbeaten home league record.

There was no European hangover for David O'Leary's men as they fought back after going a goal down when Les Ferdinand struck on 33 minutes.

An Ian Harte penalty levelled matters on 45 minutes as both sides put on a thriller at White Hart Lane.

Leeds boss David O'Leary put one over his former mentor George Graham as the Yorkshire side dominated for long periods.

Good teams deal with the bread-and-butter stuff when they've had a great result in Europe and we're looking that way now
  Leeds United boss David O'Leary

Seconds after the first whistle Mark Viduka bulldozed past Sol Campbell but the ball fell into the arms of a grateful Neil Sullivan in the Spurs goal, with the visitors looking for a penalty.

The Leeds defence were left scrambling after Simon Davies outmuscled Rio Ferdinand but his cousin Les Ferdinand shinned the ball wide.

Robbie Keane capitalised on a cheeky flick from Viduka but Sullivan was equal to the effort, diving to his left to superbly push the ball wide on five minutes.

Leeds kept Spurs on the back foot and looked likeliest to breaking the deadlock with six corners in 15 minutes.

The imperious Sol Campbell was called into action several times to clear the Spurs lines or tidy up at the back.

Even he could do nothing as Danny Mills went on a fine run. His shot on 27 minutes resulted in another fine save from Sullivan as he pushed over the bar.

Tottenham's Ferdinand came close to putting the Londoners 1-0 up but his header hit the post and was scrambled wide by an all-at-sea Nigel Martyn for a corner.

However six minutes later on 33 minutes, the veteran striker was on the scoresheet for his eighth goal of the season.

A mistake by Rio Ferdinand let in Sergei Rebrov, who slotted the ball through perfectly for Ferdinand, who waltzed past Martyn and fired home.

However in stoppage time, Leeds did find heir equaliser. Gary Doherty was judged to have brought down Lee Bowyer and Ian Harte smacked home the subsequent penalty.

Leeds started the second-half as they had started the first - pinning Spurs back with golden opportunities to go ahead.

Viduka was denied by Sullivan and Lee Bowyer's follow-up was blocked on the line by Stephen Clemence.

I thought they were the better team on the day. Leeds were much brighter
  George Graham

But Viduka did have a hand in Leeds' second goal when he missed an attempted flick from a 20-yard Lee Bowyer shot, which eluded the unsighted Sullivan on 57 minutes.

Tim Sherwood's glancing header on 70 minutes flew over the bar as Spurs looked for a share of the points.

As the home side pushed forward, room appeared for substitute Harry Kewell who began to terrorise the Spurs right.

The impressive Viduka also had a shot blocked by Sullivan as the whistle blew on Tottenham's envied home record.
