Oxford Utd 2-1 Crewe

A James Constable brace kept Oxford hot on the heels of the League Two play-off hopefuls with a victory over Crewe.

The United striker fired his side ahead with a 20-yard effort that wrong-footed Crewe's Rhys Taylor and snuck inside the post.

Constable doubled his tally after the break when he received Ryan Burge's pass, muscled past a defender and rifled home.

Ajay Leitch-Smith's scrappy shot pulled one back for Crewe in stoppage time.

Crewe manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke:
"It was a tight game with not many chances and we seem to be dependant on whether Clayton Donaldson takes his chances or not.

"Had he taken the chances that he had, particularly the one where he went past the goalkeeper, that would have been a draw.

"We don't set out to do anything different [away from home], it might be that the opposition play better at home than they do away."
