Morecambe made a mockery of the form book with a comfortable win at league leaders Chesterfield.
Kevan Hurst fired the Shrimps in front with a low drive from 25 yards out.
With the hosts failing to make any kind of in-roads on Morecambe's defence, Danny Carlton notched his first goal of the season with a neat hooked volley.
Craig Davies and Scott Boden both spurned late chances for the Spireites, who failed to score at home for the first time this season.
Chesterfield boss John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm very, very frustrated at the moment. I'm stuck for words.
"I think it was our worst performance of the season and I've got no excuses. I won't make any excuses.
"The way we performed today, I thought we were terrible and I apologise to the supporters. They were moaning and I can't disagree with the things they've said because that performance was unacceptable.
