Crewe   1 - 2   Shrewsbury

Crewe 1-2 Shrewsbury

Crewe 1-2 Shrewsbury

Mark Wright scored a superb injury-time goal to give Shrewsbury Town victory away at Crewe.

The Shrews drew first blood, Wright latching onto an awful back pass from Patrick Ada for an easy tap-in.

Shaun Miller put the Railwaymen level, picking up Clayton Donaldson's pass and firing past goalkeeper Chris Neal.

Rhys Taylor saved a penalty for Crewe after Ada brought down Jake Robinson, but Wright got his second, running 20 yards before drilling home.

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire:
"We played extremely well. We had the luxury of a missed penalty, we hit the woodwork twice and we showed a lot of resilience when they were chasing the game.

"I've got a lot of regard for Dario Gradi. Crewe are a good team and we've beaten them - and that's a yardstick for us.

"There were good individual performances, we showed character, and we've set a standard for ourselves away from home."
