Cheltenham v Shrewsbury

Cheltenham 1-2 Shrewsbury

Two goals in two minutes saw Shrewsbury come from behind to beat Cheltenham.

Cheltenham took the lead on the hour when veteran striker Barry Hayles smashed the ball home from inside the box having turned his marker.

But Shrewsbury equalised when keeper Scott Brown's attempted clearance hit Dave Hibbert and bounced into the net.

Brown then failed to grasp Lewis Neal's cross, allowing Joss Labadie to stab in the winner, before Michael Pook hit the post late on for Cheltenham.

Cheltenham Town boss Martin Allen told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"It's difficult to take when you lose a game like that when we've had the majority of the possession and been in the final third so many times.

"I think that's the first time we've played well here, when we've imposed ourselves on the opposition.

"It wasn't pretty, but we got it into the final third a lot quicker, got behind them a lot quicker and, after Saturday, it was a massive improvement."

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"We've come under the cosh a bit. Towards the end, it was like The Alamo. I've never so many big people in our six-yard box.

"Whether anyone thinks we didn't deserve it, I don't really care. We've shown great character to get a big result.

"We had opportunities to score and you sometimes wonder if your little run is going to come to an end, but I know my players are always going to keep working.

"We're fifth in the table. But I didn't take any notice when we were 17th so I don't take any notice now we're fifth."
