Jamie Lowry scored a third goal in two games to earn Chesterfield a point against Shrewsbury.

The saves of Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee also played a vital part in the draw but he had no chance when Steve Leslie headed Shrewsbury in front.

However, Lowry fired in off the far post with an angled shot to level.

Substitute Jake Robinson almost won the game for Shrewsbury late on when his curling shot hit the post before he had a strike tipped round the post.

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"It was a massive improvement from Tuesday night (when the Shrews lost 5-0 at Dagenham).

"We had patches where we looked very solid, but we were a bit nervy and let Chesterfield back into it."

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"I'm pleased we got something from the game, it's a tough place to come. They got in the play-offs last year.

"I think we matched them, I don't think there was anything between the sides."
