Grimsby 0-0 Macclesfield

Grimsby guaranteed their survival in League Two with a 0-0 draw against Macclesfield that ensured Chester's result at Darlington was irrelevant.

Macclesfield had an early chance when Peter Bore's error let in Gareth Evans but Wayne Henderson saved his shot.

The Silkmen then needed their keeper Jon Brain to stop Chris Llewellyn's header and Peter Sweeney's volley.

Brain also kept out Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's header and somehow denied Adrian Forbes from close range.

Grimsby: Henderson, Stockdale, Bennett, Atkinson, Hegarty, Bore, Clarke, Sweeney, Llewellyn (Fuller 68), Conlon (Proudlock 67), Akpa Akpro (Forbes 67).
Subs Not Used: Lund, Normington.

Booked: Akpa Akpro, Atkinson, Forbes.

Macclesfield: Brain, Flynn, Walker, Liburd, Deen, Reid, Hadfield, Tolley (Millar 75), Daniel, Rooney (Dennis 75), Evans (Mukendi 74).
Subs Not Used: Thomas, Brisley.
