Chester 0-2 Macclesfield

Macclesfield eased their relegation fears as they won at Chester to keep the hosts deep in trouble.

The Silkmen took the lead when Lee Bell's free kick rebounded off the Chester wall for John Rooney to blast a 20-yard volley low into the net.

Colin Daniel set up Gareth Evans to smash home Macclesfield's second goal off the underside of the bar.

Shaun Kelly had Chester's best chance when he met Ryan Lowe's cross late on but headed straight at Jon Brain.
