Nicky Law and Steve Jones were on target as Bradford beat 10-man Grimsby to end a four-game run without a win.
The visitors had Robert Atkinson sent off for a foul on Michael Boulding on 20 minutes but despite dominating, the Bantams struggled to take advantage.
Mariners keeper Phil Barnes denied Jones and Boulding and Jones also hit the post before the break.
Law finally broke the deadlock after 75 minutes with a low shot and Jones made it 2-0 after good work by Joe Colbeck.
