Anderton was making the 569th club appearance of his career
Darren Anderton marked his final game in English football in memorable style with a late winner to give Bournemouth a positive points total in the table.
Anderton, who had come on as a 56th minute substitute, hammered the ball home from the edge of the area after Mark Molesley's cross was cleared.
Anderton almost scored moments earlier when his 35-yard free-kick flew wide.
Before the goal Chester substitute Tony Dinning was given a straight red card for elbowing Danny Hollands.
