Hat-trick heroes George Boyd and Aaron McLean shared centre stage as Posh demolished Stanley at London Road.
Boyd's brace - including a glorious volley - was sandwiched by Craig Mackail-Smith's opener and McLean's drilled finish for 4-0 at half-time.
Paul Mullin struck for Stanley seconds after the interval and substitute Shaun Whalley cut the arrears further.
But Boyd's long-range effort settled Posh nerves before McLean completed his hat-trick and Mackail-Smith his brace.
