Chester easily saw off Barnet to stay in the League Two play-off frame.
City took the lead when Kevin Ellison crossed for Richie Partridge to rifle into the net from eight yards.
Adam Birchall was denied by Chester keeper John Danby as the Bees tried to respond but they fell further behind to Ellison's spectacular half-volley.
And Ellison completed the scoring with 14 minutes left when he brought the ball down superbly before smashing a left-foot shot in off the post.
