Chester moved to third in the table after a win against Shrewsbury, with all the goals coming after the break.
Kevin Ellison struck the woodwork in the opening 45 but the game came to life with four goals in an 11-minute spell after the break.
Richie Partridge curled in from 20 yards to put Chester ahead before Darren Moss headed an equaliser.
But John Murphy stole in to put Chester back in the lead and substitute Simon Yeo then scored with a stunning volley.
