Andy Monkhouse returned to haunt his former club as Hartlepool moved up to third spot in League Two with victory at Swindon.
Monkhouse struck at the start of the second half, heading home Ritchie Humphreys' cross from close range.
Swindon almost found an equaliser when Andrew Nicholas' vicious left-foot shot rattled the post.
Otherwise, Hartlepool showed resiliance as Danny Wilson's side stretched their unbeaten run to 14 matches.
