A late header from Tim Sills was enough to earn Hereford victory at play-off hopefuls Notts County.
Sills nodded into an empty net on 81 minutes after substitute Stuart Fleetwood chased a lost cause and lofted a cross over keeper Saul Deeney.
Hereford had a good shout for a penalty when Alan White seemed to handle but referee Rob Lewis signalled a corner.
County's Lawrie Dudfield had a goal ruled out for offside and saw a last-gasp effort saved by Wayne Brown.
