Torquay United leapfrogged Huddersfield to book their promotion to the Second Division with a 2-1 win at Southend.
Huddersfield let an automatic promotion spot slip with a 1-1 draw against 10-man Cheltenham, a result that sends the Terriers into the play-off mix.
They will now play Lincoln, who held on to seventh spot despite losing 3-2 to Yeovil.
Northampton beat Mansfield 2-1 to set up a re-match between the sides in the other play-off semi-final.
Huddersfield started the day in third behind champions Doncaster and Hull knowing all they had to do was better Torquay's result.
They were given the perfect start with an Andy Booth goal after 16 minutes and their position was seemingly strengthend in the second-half when Cheltenham's Damian Spencer was sent off.
But the hosts pushed for an equaliser which finally came 15 minutes from time, Shane Duff's goal destroying Huddersfield's hopes when allied to Torquay's efforts.

With Mansfield and Northampton locked at 1-1 deep in the second half it gave Yeovil a glimmer of hope of gatecrashing the play-off places.
But Rob Ullathorne's late winner for the Cobblers secured Northampton's play-off place and left Yeovil missing out on goal difference after their 3-2 win over Lincoln.
