Celebrations to mark the opening of Darlington's new stadium fell flat after a
capacity crowd of 11,600 left the Reynolds Arena disappointed as Kidderminster came away with a 2-0 win.
Kidderminster took control from the start and turned the screw in the second
period to record an easy victory.
The visitors opened the scoring shortly after the restart when midfielder
Danny Williams smashed in a 25-yard free-kick that gave Darlington goalkeeper
Andy Collett no chance.
Kidderminster doubled their advantage on the hour when substitute Andy Bishop
lofted the ball over the stranded Collett from just inside the area.
Darlington brought on young striker Mark Sheeran in the second half and two
minutes from time he should have scored when he was sent clear by fellow
substitute Chris Hughes.
