Oxford 0-2 Wrexham

Andy Morrell, the Third Division's leading scorer, hit his 20th league goal of the season as Wrexham completed the double over high-flying Oxford with a win.

Morrell drilled a low shot under goalkeeper Andy Woodman in the 63rd minute after Lee Trundle had been denied by a last-ditch tackle from Paul Powell.

Oxford, looking for their third successive win, were unlucky when Steve Basham curled a left-footed shot against the post, while James Hunt was twice denied by good stops from Wrexham goalkeeper Andy Dibble.

But Wrexham, who have found the net in every away league game this season, were much the better team after the interval.

And 11 minutes after Morrell's opener, giant defender Dennis Lawrence glanced home from Darren Ferguson's corner.

Brian Carey also went close with a header, planting it straight into Woodman's arms.

Oxford Utd: Woodman, Crosby, Bound, Edwards, McNiven, Savage, Hunt, Hunter, Powell, Scott, Basham. Subs: Oldfield, Louis, Steele, Ford, Waterman.

Wrexham: Dibble, Roberts, Carey, Lawrence, Carlos Edwards, Whitley, Ferguson, Thomas, Paul Edwards, Trundle, Morrell. Subs: Holmes, Rogers, Pejic, Sam, Mark Jones.

Referee: P Joslin (Nottinghamshire).
