Wrexham 2-2 Bury

Wrexham clung on for a point after being reduced to 10 men.

Andy Morrell, the country's top scorer, broke the deadlock on 21 minutes with a fine 20-yard shot after being fed by Paul Edwards.

He claimed his 13th of the season two minutes later after Trinidadian Hector Sam was fouled in the box by Michael Nelson.

Morrell made no mistake with the resulting penalty.

Wrexham had trouble containing the lively striker pairing of Pawel Abbott and Jon Newby - and the duo combined on 30 minutes to get Bury back in it.

Abbott skipped past the challenge of Shaun Pejic and coolly picked out his strike partner, who made no mistake from 10 yards.

Bury then had three players booked as the game threatened to boil over.

But it was Wrexham who saw red when Carlos Edwards pushed Colin Woodthorpe in the 43rd minutes.

Morrell hit the post after 52 minutes but Paul Barrett's terrible back-pass 10 minutes later allowed Newby to slip in round Andy Dibble and equalise.

Both sides pushed for a winner.

And Dibble saved well from Newby when he found himself clean through before Glyn Garner did the same when Barrett was played in just before the end.

Wrexham: Dibble, Pejic, Roberts, Bennett, Carlos Edwards, Whitley, Barrett, Ferguson, Paul Edwards, Sam, Morrell. Subs: Holmes, Lawrence, Trundle, Thomas, Whitfield.

Bury: Garner, Unsworth, Swailes, Nelson, Barrass, Forrest, Dunfield, Billy, Woodthorpe, Abbott, Newby. Subs: Preece, Clegg, Hill, Seddon, O'Shaughnessy.

Referee: M Cowburn (Lancashire).
