Wrexham 1-1 Boston United

Wrexham hung on to claim a draw at the Racecourse Ground after a spirited second-half display by Boston.

Lee Trundle opened the scoring for the home side after 27 minutes, just a minute after Daryl Clare had fired over the crossbar at the other end.

Simon Rusk equalised for United with a low shot in the 64th minute after debutant goalkeeper Andy Dibble had saved well from a Simon Weatherstone effort.

Wrexham then enjoyed their best spell of the game with Andy Morrell going close, but his shot was blocked when he could have passed to strike partner Trundle in acres of space.

Dibble was forced into action again after 56 minutes when he had to make a fine one-handed save from Weatherstone.

The goalkeeper then saved well from Steve Burton's effort as Boston began to overrun Wrexham, but after 64 minutes the goal came as Rusk ran beyond the Wrexham back line to slip a shot past Dibble.

Wrexham: Dibble, Pejic, Lawrence, Roberts, Carlos Edwards, Thomas, Whitley, Barrett, Holmes, Morrell, Trundle.

Boston Utd: Bastock, Hocking, Warburton, Rodwell, Chapman, Simon Weatherstone, Bennett, Rusk, Gould, Clare, Burton.

Referee: A Bates (Staffordshire)
