Dead ball specialist Matt Lockwood's second penalty success of the week sealed three points for Leyton Orient during a 2-0 victory against Scunthorpe.

Both teams struggled to find their form in the fierce heat.

And Orient enjoyed an early let-off when keeper Rhys Evans fumbled a Peter Beagrie corner before finally gathering the ball.

The hosts finally went into the lead in the 38th minute as John Martin scored against the run of play.

Lee Thorpe challenged Scunthorpe keeper Tom Evans and the ball seemed to be running to safety beyond the far post but Martin managed to score from the tightest of angles.

The home side could have extended their lead after 57 minutes but Gary Fletcher shot tamely at the keeper.

Rhys Evans made a crucial save in the 78th minute when Beagrie's 20-yard free-kick looked bound for his bottom corner.

Three minutes later Andy Dawson upended Jamal Campbell-Rice in the box and Lockwood, who had converted a penalty in Tuesday's win over Macclesfield, again made no mistake.
