Cheltenham 2-0 Port Vale

Cheltenham 2-0 Port Vale

Second-half goals from Darryl Duffy and Luke Summerfield helped high-flying Cheltenham beat Port Vale to earn their third successive League Two victory.

Duffy put the Robins ahead when he converted a penalty after Louis Dodds had tripped Russell Penn in the area.

Summerfield added a second, firing home after Vale keeper Stuart Tomlinson failed to collect Luke Garbutt's cross.

Vale's best chance came in the first half but an excellent challenge from Steve Elliott denied Sean Rigg.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told BBC Gloucestershire:

"We were superb, organised, created chances and looked dangerous and the two goals were quality. Our passing was really good, our enthusiasm to do the right thing was really good and we were excellent.

"I wanted a bit more quality in the final third in the first half, which I asked for at half time, and got in abundance in the second half.

"Once we scored the penalty we settled into the game and had more quality in our game. Some of the passing was outstanding and the midfield are different class."

Port Vale manager Micky Adams told BBC Radio Stoke:

"I thought that, up until the penalty, we were comfortable.

"There's no doubt at all that it was a penalty, but the game changes on it.

"We look like we've picked up another two injuries. Doug Loft has got a bang on his knee and Lee Collins has come off with a dead leg."
