Luton 5-1 Torquay
Carl Griffiths bagged a hat-trick of headers as Luton romped to their biggest win of the season by beating Torquay.

Steve Howard opened the scoring after 18 minutes and Griffiths chipped in with two before half time, completing his first treble for the Hatters with 10 minutes to go.

But the goal of the game came from Luton's French winger Jean-Louis Valois who scored with a stunning 40-yard strike on a debut that saw him have a hand in two of Griffiths' goals.

Kevin Nicholls put through his own net to give Torquay a consolation.

The visitors were indebted to goalkeeper Kevin Dearden who pulled off three fine saves to keep the scoreline down.

Luton: Ovendale, Boyce, Perrett, Coyne, Taylor, Hughes, Spring, Nicholls, Valois, Howard, Griffiths. Subs: Ward, Dryden, Forbes, Douglas, Hillier.

Torquay: Dearden, Tully, McNeil, Woozley, Douglin, Lee Russell, Nicholls, Rees, Hill, Graham, Richardson. Subs: Northmore, Williams, Bedeau, Williamson, Holmes.
