Rushden 0-0 Lincoln
Rushden defenders Mark Peters keeps out Lincoln
Rushden and Diamonds remain unbeaten in the Nationwide League after an entertaining goalless draw with Lincoln City at Nene Park.
It was an historic night for the Conference champions who were playing their first home game in Division Three. And they followed up their opening day win over York with a well deserved point. The nearest either side came to breaking the deadlock was on the hour when Lincoln striker Paul Morgan hit the bar with a header following Stuart Bimson's corner. For the Diamonds, Justin Jackson was always a threat and from one of his runs down the left, Australian defender Jon Brady missed a great chance to put the home side in front when he stubbed his shot just wide of the post. But Rushden acquitted themselves well against a strong Lincoln side and a point was enough to put the newcomers top of the table.
Rushden & D'monds: Turley, Mustafa, Rodwell, Peters, Underwood, Carey, Brady, Butterworth, Gray, Patmore, Jackson. Subs: Darby, Mills, Pennock, Setchell, Solkhon. Lincoln City: Marriott, Barnett, Holmes, Morgan, Bimson, Black, Finnigan, Sedgemore, Gain, Thorpe, Battersby. Subs: Buckley, Cameron, Walker, Brown, Pettinger. Referee: M Messias (York)
