Plymouth 0-1 Shrewsbury
Skipper Nigel Jemson was the hero for Shrewsbury as he scored with 21 minutes left to earn his side a 1-0 victory at Plymouth.

In a tight opening period, the advantage seemed to be going Plymouth's way when Shrews midfielder Karl Murray was dismissed for a second bookable offence 10 minutes before half-time.

But the hosts were unable to make their extra man count as visiting keeper Mark Cartwright produced a string of fine saves to keep them out.

And the Pilgrims were caught with a sucker punch in the 69th minute when veteran striker Jemson side-footed home from six yards from a Mark Atkins cross.

Plymouth: Larrieu, Beswetherick, Coughlan, Adams, Wotton, McGlinchey, Friio, Phillips, Wills, Evens, Stonebridge. Subs: Evers, Gritton, McCormick, Connolly, Crowe.

Shrewsbury: Cartwright, Jenkins, Rioch, Murray, Redmile, Heathcote, Jagielka, Atkins, Rodgers, Jemson, Wilding. Subs: Freestone, Dunbavin, Tretton, Walker, Moss.

Referee: C Penton (Woodindean)
