York City and Cardiff City shared the spoils after a 3-3 thriller at Bootham Crescent.

The result sealed the Bluebirds' promotion to Division Two while also securing York's Division Three status.

Cardiff took the lead in the 37th minute when Leo Fortune-West headed the ball home.

But the Welsh side's celebrations were short-lived as within two minutes, Chris Brass had equalised from the penalty spot after Lee Nogan had been upended by Rhys Weston.

Deep into first-half stoppage time, Cardiff regained the lead when Fortune-West headed in his second goal.

The goals continued to flow after the break. Nogan fired an equaliser after 62 minutes before fellow striker Colin Alcide nudged York in front for the first time.

However, Fortune-West bagged his hat-trick - and the equaliser for Cardiff - when he looped a header over Alan Fettis from Kevin Evans' free-kick.

Cardiff City: Muggleton, Thompson, Weston, Young, Legg, Evans, Boland, Brazier, Bowen, Brayson, Fortune-West.
