Halifax 2-1 Torquay
Halifax eased their relegation fears with a win against Torquay.

First-half goals from strikers Steve Kerrigan and Gary Jones helped Halifax pull off their first double of the season.

Kerrigan had a goal disallowed for offside after eight minutes and winger Rob Matthews hit the crossbar before Jones beat the Torquay off-side trap after 37 minutes to score from 15 yards.

On the stroke of half-time, a clever four-man move ended with top-scorer Kerrigan taking his tally this season to 14 with a close-range shot.

Fellow strugglers Torquay were never really in the game until they were awarded a penalty after 80 minutes.

Defender Matt Clarke was adjudged to have brought down striker Eifion Williams.

Gary Neil stepped up and scored with the spot-kick to give the visitors what turned out to be nothing more than a consolation goal.

Torquay: Northmore, Neil, Russell, Holmes, Herrera, Watson, Kell, Rees, Williams, Gayle, Hill. Subs: Law, Hockley, Ashington, Lyons, Stephens.
