Cardiff 6-1 Exeter
Cardiff climbed back up to third place with their eighth win in a row at Ninian Park, thrashing a deflated Exeter 6-1.
New recruit James Harper sent City on their way in the 22nd minute when he set up Scott Young for the opener. Four goals in 19 second half minutes from Gavin Gordon, Andy Legg, Jason Bowen and Matt Brazier together with a late strike from Paul Brayson made it a goal feast for City fans. Harper showed up well in defence and attack and will be a welcome acquisition to the Bluebirds ranks. He sprayed passes down both flanks and although he tired a little in the second half there is no doubt that City owner Sam Hammam has unearthed another gem in the Rhys Weston mould. Even an own goal by Andy Jordanfailed to dampen the Welsh spirits. It was a superb display from City and their first double of the campaign but for Exeter fans it is going to be a long hard season. Cardiff: Walton, Gabbidon, Brazier, Young, Weston, Legg, McCulloch, Harper, Bowen, Gordon, Earnshaw. Subs: Brayson, Nogan, Eckhardt, Low, Jordan. Exeter: Van Heusden, Whitworth, Power, Buckle, Curran, Cornforth, Roscoe, Flack, Campbell, Tierney, Read. Subs: Fraser, Ampadu, Tomlinson, Holloway, Blake. Referee: A Bates (Stoke on Trent).
