Cardiff 2-0 Macclesfield
![]() Cardiff can thanks their keeper for Saturday's victory
Cardiff City battled to their sixth straight league victory but they have
goalkeeper Mark Walton to thank for this latest 2-0 victory.
He made several breathtaking saves as Macclesfield did everything but score against an out-of-sorts Bluebirds. Scott Young put City ahead in the sixth minute with a back header from an Andy Legg throw in and Jason Bowen rocketed a shot into the net early in the second half but it was an unconvincing performance by Alan Cork's side. City were disjointed in midfield after Mark Bonner suffered a serious leg injury after 25 minutes. He was stretchered off the field with his right leg in a splint. City were kept on the defensive for long periods of the game and even the introduction of new-signing Gavin Gordon failed to spark the home attack. The Bluebirds hardly deserved victory but it is still three more points to keep Sam Hammam's club on course for promotion. Cardiff: Walton, Young, Bonner, Bowen, Legg, Weston, Earnshaw, Low, Gabbidon, Fortune-West, McCulloch. Subs: Thompson, Eckhardt, Brayson, Gordon, Evans. Macclesfield: Martin, Hitchin, Adams, Collins, Tinson, Priest, Keen, Sedgemore, Glover, Barker, Whitehead. Subs: Askey, Wood, Munroe, O'Neill, Durkan. Referee: S Dunn (Bristol) |
