Thomas Ince's strike came in his third appearance for the Magpies
Thomas Ince - the son of Notts County manager Paul - struck his first goal in professional football as the Magpies defeated MK Dons at Meadow Lane.
The 18-year-old, on loan from Liverpool, had come on as a second-half substitute and scored with a crisp low drive from 20 yards to break the deadlock in a game that appeared to be heading for a goalless draw.
Fellow substitute Lee Hughes then put the gloss on the scoreline with a low curling strike in injury time as Notts recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since dad Paul took over as manager
The win lifts County out of the relegation zone and up to 19th in the League One table, but the Dons, who had Aaron Wilbraham dismissed in the second half, slipped to their third straight defeat as their play-off ambitions continue to stutter.
It was the first time boss Ince had faced MK Dons since he resigned as manager with four games left of last season - and his new side just about deserved their victory.
County really should have taken the lead during an opening half in which they created by far the better opportunities.
It took a last-ditch block from Dean Lewington to deny Alan Judge while Neal Bishop shot disappointingly wide at the end of a sweeping break and Craig Westcarr appeared to have been played clean through by Lee Miller's header but was stopped by an offside flag.
Ben Davies had the best chance of the half after a clever dummy from Westcarr caught out the Dons defence and gave the midfielder a clear run at goal. The 29-year-old had time to steady himself before shooting but his effort was saved by David Martin.
Miller had a further effort saved before the interval as Notts made good use of the width of the Meadow Lane pitch, delivering a series of testing crosses into the MK Dons penalty box.
In contrast, the visiting side could only muster one decent first-half effort but Lewis Guy's strike from a tight angle was blocked, while Robinson's side were perhaps fortunate not to have the recalled Wilbraham sent-off after he caught Liam Chilvers with a flailing arm.
The Dons switched from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 formation at the start of second-half, with Jabo Ibehre coming on to join Wilbraham up front.
It was a decision that led to an improvement by the visitors and after an unfortunate slip by Ricky Ravenhill, Guy was through on goal but his effort was blocked by keeper Rob Burch.
Guy also failed to pick out a completely unmarked Ibehre with a header across goal that went behind the Dons forward, allowing Notts the chance to clear the danger.
Wilbraham, who missed with a strike on the turn, picked up a second yellow after catching Mike Edwards with another flailing arm, while Gary Mackenzie went close after a cross struck him in the chest and rebounded narrowly wide.
But Notts also continued to theaten and Westcarr went close with a swerving strike while Ravenhill saw a shot deflected wide before Ince struck.
Hughes then sealed the win with his precise 18-yard finish after weaving one way then the other to create the opening.
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio: "We have come here and not got what we wanted.
"I have just had twenty minutes with the referee. Very productive after the game, I wish it was productive as it would be before. It's disappointing to lose as we did in the latter part of the game.
"We got beat at Tranmere and the referee apologised for three key decisions there. I'm sure it will be same here. It doesn't make it any easier for me to accept."
