Walsall   1 - 4   Tranmere

Walsall v Tranmere

Walsall 1-4 Tranmere

Tranmere moved off the bottom of the table after a big win away at Walsall.

Walsall goalkeeper Jonny Brain punched a clearance straight to John Welsh, who lobbed into an empty net from 40 yards to put the visitors ahead.

Enoch Showumni slotted in to double the lead, but Jon Macken pulled one back when he struck from close range.

Aaron Lescott fouled Dale Jennings in the area and Ian Thomas-Moore scored the resultant penalty for Rovers, before Welsh headed in late on.

Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:
"It was a massive game and it's probably the most pressure I've felt since I've been manager.

"I said to Ian Goodison, Ian Thomas-Moore, John Welsh and Enoch Showunmi before the game 'we need performances from you today'.

"I put a little bit of onus on them as they are our senior professionals and I got performances."
