Craig Westcarr grabbed himself a goal and laid on another as Notts County dominated in their win over Plymouth.

Westcarr broke the deadlock when he rifled past keeper Romain Larrieu after the visitors failed to clear a corner.

John Spicer then doubled the lead when he calmly finished past Larrieu after being put through by the striker.

Lee Hughes and Jon Harley had good chances to add more goals while Yannick Bolasie's cross almost caught out Rob Burch to get one back for the Pilgrims.

Notts County manager Craig Short told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"The clean sheet please me, especially second half when they're throwing men forward. They're a big side with an aerial threat with the long throws.

"The first half I thought we played some good stuff but you just knew in the second half, because we've not had a clean sheet for a while, you thought we'd have to defend a little bit deeper, which we did and they're going to throw caution to the wind a little bit.

"Plymouth have got very, very good away form, ex-Championship side, so the lads deserved that after what they've put in the last few weeks".

Plymouth Argyle manager Peter Reid told BBC Radio Devon:
"It's what we deserved because we were very, very poor all over the pitch.

"We didn't win any second balls, we didn't win any tackles and we didn't pass the ball and we got beat by a side who wanted it more than us.

"We got out-competed today, it's as simple as that and that disappoints me."
