Brighton   3 - 0   Tranmere

Brighton 3-0 Tranmere

Brighton 3-0 Tranmere

Brighton maintained their push towards mid-table with a third successive win against 10-man Tranmere.

Glenn Murray put the hosts in front when he headed in his 15th goal of the season from Frenchman Seb Carole's cross in the seventh minute.

Carole was involved again as he set up Andrew Crofts to double the lead.

Tranmere saw Andy Robinson red carded for a poor tackle on Inigo Calderon 12 minutes from time before Ashley Barnes rounded off the scoring from 18 yards.

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet told BBC Sussex:

"People will think it is comfortable because they only look at the result.

"I think the team performance, especially in the second half, was outstanding - probably one of the best I've seen this season.

" The attitude and the belief of the players, and trying to impose our game, was the key point for me."

Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"We shouldn't have won the game, but 3-0 wasn't a true reflection of the game, I don't think.

"We've got to make sure that today doesn't knock our confidence which is number one.

"We can't do anything about the result now but we can do something about the lads' confidence."
