Swindon   3 - 1   Gillingham

Swindon 3-1 Gillingham

Swindon 3-1 Gillingham

Swindon maintained their hold on a League One play-off spot with a comfortable win over Gillingham.

Charlie Austin set the hosts on their way with a sharp turn and finish to net his eighth goal in as many starts.

Scott Cuthbert headed in Jon-Paul McGovern's corner for the second before Vincent Pericard was brought down in the box by Mark Bentley.

Billy Paynter stepped up to put the game out of reach before Chris Palmer's consolation from the edge of the area.

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Kent:
"First half we we were decent, we gave as good as we got and were a bit unfortunate to go in 1-0 behind.

"We said at half-time we have to keep it tight, keep believing and keep patient but we gave a way a poor second goal - free header at a corner.

"After that it was an uphill task. We made a couple of changes but it didn't quite work out."
