Leyton Orient 2-2 Southampton

Rickie Lambert stole the limelight as Southampton clawed back a two-goal deficit against Leyton Orient.

The Saints were rocked when Tamika Mkandawire nodded home JJ Melligan's centre after just two minutes.

Shortly after the break Neal Trotman headed an own goal past Kelvin Davies to stun Southampton further.

But Lambert pulled one back from Adam Lallana's cross, and secured a point by firing David Connolly's pass into the roof of the net six minutes from time.

Leyton Orient manager Geraint Williams told BBC London 94.9:

"If you look at the full 90 minutes then you'd have to say that we were the better side but, having gone 2-0 up, we're disappointed not to have seen it through.

"I thought the lads were magnificent today from the first whistle to the last as we got in front nice and early and kept going right to the very end.

"But at the end of the day those were two million pounds finishes and that's what you get when you pay a million pounds for a striker."

Southampton boss Alan Pardew told BBC Solent:

"We just kept banging away and banging away until we finally got a breakthrough and once that (goal) went in it looked like we could win it.

"Fair play to Orient, they gave everything they could, they worked really hard and put their foot in. They almost got a reward for that.

"We've got a strong squad..a little disappointed we didn't win but at the same token I'm very relieved we didn't get beaten."
